Mosquitoes are probably one of the least liked insects in the world. Mosquitoes have a innate ability to ruin an otherwise fun time. Mosquitoes can be annoying to hear, bite, leave bumps that itch, and carry a wide range of diseases. They are not a new problem by any means either. We have been trying to control or reduce mosquito populations ever since they have been linked as a transmitter of diseases such as Malaria, West Nile Virus, Zika, Dog Heartworms and multiple forms of encephalitis. Mosquitoes do have benefits too. The larvae can be food for fish, bats, birds, fish, and other insects eat mosquitoes too.
Targeting the source of the problem
Female mosquitoes are responsible for biting; requiring blood to reproduce and feed. Male mosquitoes feed on nectar from plants. To us, it makes sense to target female mosquitoes. While limiting the impact to other beneficial insects.
